The CSME’s College of Science Internship Program is recruiting employers to participate in Fall 2016!
Participating employers start by submitting an internship or short-term employment posting. Employers specify the type of position they have available (full/part time, paid/unpaid), the types of students they will consider (specific majors, class standing, etc.), and the parameters of the position (work schedule, compensation, etc.).
College of Science undergraduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA and 30 completed University of Utah credit hours are eligible for the program. When they apply, they indicate their interests and availability. We pre-screen the student applications for the employers’ criteria/parameters and send employers only those applications which are a possible match. Once employers receive the pre-screened applications, they conduct additional screening and hire a student if they identify a suitable candidate.
To participate in Fall 2016, employers must submit a posting by August 17.
Program Deadlines:
8/17: employer deadline to submit postings
9/9: employers receive pre-screened student applications
9/23: deadline for employers to make hiring decisions
9/26: hired interns will go through a job-readiness orientation at the UofU
9/27: employers begin student internships (start date is flexible)
12/2: students give a presentation about their internship at a symposium at the UofU
12/2: approximate internship end date (this is flexible, and employers are welcome to keep interns longer-term)
